AA - Roberts drops to Consos
AA Semi-Finals...
at 103 pounds, North Star sophomore Nick Roberts (who came in to the tourney at 35-0) lost a heartbreaker decision, 4-3, to Line Mountain freshman Zain Retherford ... Retherford's third period escape was the difference, as Roberts dropped to the Consos and Retherford created a Championship Finals showdown against Bermudian Springs soph Brad Farley ... Retherford's season record stands at 39-1 ... Farley's season mark is now 38-1!!

Day 2 AA Quarterfinals
A couple upsets that people might say happened at this morning's PIAA State AA Wrestling Championships. Start at the very first weight class. At 103, returning silver medalist Evan Link of Penn Cambria, was beaten 4-0 by David White of Athens. White, a Senior North East Regional Champion came into the state tournament with a 41-3 record while Link, a Junior, South West Regional third place qualifier had a 34-4 record. 119 returning State Champion Arty Walsh formerly of Wyomissing now a wrestler at Juniata, was beaten by South Western 2nd place Regional qualifier Tanner Hough from Westmont-Hilltop, a Junior with a record of 35-5. Also of Juniata at 125 returning Silver Medalist at 112 lbs last year to Arty Walsh, was beaten by North East Regional Champion Colton Fought of Benton a Junior with a record of 38-6. Last, highly ranked in the Nation, Tyler Demott of Benton was beaten by North Western Regional Champion Joe Chittester, a Senior at Ridgway High who entered the State Championship with a unbeaten record of 37-0.
